Why I do what I do.

Welcome to my blog if this is the first time you’ve been here, or welcome back to those who started reading way back on post one. I know, I know, this is only the third post, but it’s important to celebrate even the smallest of achievements isn’t it!

Talking of achievements, I’m really hoping the graphic above looks ok. That was 3rd time lucky. (hmmm is there a theme emerging?)  The short version of what happened was, that I spent a while using an app called Canva to upload and arrange my images , then my fat fingers and addled brain clicked on something and wiped out everything I had created up until that point! Multi-tasking may have played a role... I was trying to cook tea at the same time. Undeterred I had another go, but the app crashed! Perhaps the universe telling me to concentrate on one thing at a time?
Anyways if at first you don’t succeed, try try try again ...
Now as I’m writing this I’m wondering if the quality of the image is good enough for a larger screen!.  Oh well fingers crossed.

You may have noticed that so far this post has borne no resemblance to the title of this blog... I can only apologise. If you decide to stick with me and my blog, you will notice that I write in a style that errs towards waffle. I write down what pops into my head. Hopefully this will prove to be interesting rather than irritating to read. Time will tell.

So why do I do what I do? (At last I hear you cry)
I craft because it’s in my bones. I create things because I don’t know how not to. I have always been drawn to creative pursuits for as long as I can remember, and even when there have been times in my life where there didn’t feel like there was enough time for crafting I still made things. I baked, I and gardened, and made repairs to clothes and sewed simple curtains for our home. I think in order to be me, I have to be busy with my hands.

I love being able to make something from what others might see as nothing. I love combining colours, patterns, materials and techniques to create something new and unique. And I love learning new skills and ways of using materials.

When I create something, it doesn’t always go right first time, and that can be frustrating, but it’s also part of the learning process, and when an idea in my head , comes to life and I’m pleased with it and others are too, that’s such a great feeling.

I genuinely feel honoured when people approach me to make cards and gifts for them. I hope it means they can see the time and love that goes into each piece.

Well, I got there in the end! I hope you enjoyed reading and decide to come back again. If you know someone who may enjoy this blog please take a moment to share it. That would make my day.

Can’t wait till the next installment ?
